Our little House Chicken has grown up!  And turned into a rooster, so I guess we have to stop calling her "she"!  We first had a clue that our little gal might not to grow up to lay eggs, when she started chasing all the other animals our of "her" front yard.   Then we started to be suspicious about the shape of her tail feathers, and then of course there was the morning that she started to crow.        :-(         We had been hoping for a girl.

But he still loves to be held and now he has learned his first, and probably only, circus trick, and can jump almost two feet off the ground for treats.  His favorite is buttered toast crusts!

Our mature ewes have been up on the top of the farm to keep them away from their weaning lambs.  It seems they have forgotten how to behave as when I went up to check on them, first they were suspicous of me,

Then they were able to remember who I was,     wpe9.jpg (10044 bytes)

Then they starting fighting,

Finally though, they were able to settle down and have a rest in the shade.  Phew!  They were like little wildings for a while!

wpeD.jpg (9511 bytes)    wpeE.jpg (9965 bytes)   wpeF.jpg (9898 bytes) The ewes are all looking good.   They've dried up nicely from weaning, and have already put on lots of condition for breeding with the rich, fall grasses.  They love this cooler weather and run, and jump, and kick up their heels like little lambies!  Thankfully, they still like to settle down for scritches from me, and face and ear washes from Rebbi.

~   Before we know it, it will be breeding season!   Look for photos from the   AI process as we get later into the fall.
