ICELANDIC CHICKS!
We hatched Icelandic chicken eggs purchased from Lyle Behl of Cascade Sheep and Wool Co. in Rochester, IL and here they are at one week old.
At three weeks old we have moved them to the warm room in our barn, and they are starting into that awkward in between phase.
One of our daughters is doing a project with the chickens for her 8th Grade Science class. So far they are being very helpful!

| Lambing has started and we are getting
some beautiful lambs! This is Jessie, BLW-634N washing up her newborn
spotted moorit ewe lambs.
And here, our leader ewe STS-434K is washing up her Leifur son, BLW-827R. And here he is again looking a little drier.

Finally some spring flowers!
|
| And of course the ducks are out on the duck pond again. An Eastern Painted Turtle, hiding from the dogs.
For now at least, our turtle has joined the community at the duck pond.
|
| Here Red is getting comfortable with her
twins. Or at least they are getting comfortable with her!
Our banty hen, carefully guarding her three newborn chicks. We had to take this with a zoom as she just wouldn't let us get closer!
Yarn, drying on the fenceline. |
